Dr.-Ing. Christos Argirusis is professor for Inorganic Materials Technology with emphasis on ceramic materials at the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is the director of the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials Technology (LIMT). The LIMT group is working on the preparation of novel inorganic materials with tailored properties. We employ modern and non- conventional methods like sonochemistry and sono-electrochemistry, mechanochemistry for the preparation of nanomaterials and decoration of ceramic materials with both metallic and well as oxide nanoparticles. We study transport properties in condensed matter by tracer diffusion and subsequent SIMS measurements, conductivity measurements of total conductivity as well as separation in electronic and ionic fraction using blocking (micro)electrodes. Sonochemical and ultrasound-assisted photocatalytic processes, as well as Solid Oxide Fuel cells and Microbial Fuel cells, are another field of interest of the LIMT group.
Prof. Argirusis has published ca. 100 scientific papers and has more than 140 presentations in international conferences (about 10 of which are invited lectures). He has organized one international conference and several local workshops.
Prof. Argirusis is a board member of the European Society of Sonochemistry (treasurer) and has served as vice-president of the Greek Ceramic Society.
He is also a member of several scientific committees of conference series (Electrophoretic Deposition Conference series, European Society of Sonochemistry, Asia-Oceania Society of Sonochemistry, European Ceramic Society, etc.) as well as reviewer in several high impact scientific journals.
